Massachusetts sex offender registry: town totals and official searches
Find the official registry, understand its coverage, and read the historical city totals published by Massachusetts.
Do not use registry information to commit a crime, harass anyone or engage in illegal discrimination. Massachusetts law prohibits these uses. These town totals are not individual background checks or eligibility decisions.
Check current information through the official registry
Search the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board website ↗. Select the town on the official site. For other states, use the national registry search ↗.
Massachusetts makes Level 3 records and Level 2 classifications after July 12, 2013 available online. Level 1 information is not public. The online search is not a complete list of every registered person. Official explanation of registry levels ↗
Published city totals: historical 2024 table
The FFY2025 Massachusetts Byrne JAG narrative supplies the ten city totals below in Table 7. The table is labeled 2024 and its source footnote says August 5, 2024. These are dated snapshots, not current counts or fiscal-year averages. The table does not supply a city-level classification breakdown and is not equivalent to online Level 2/3 search results.

| Boston | 1,021 |
| Brockton | 257 |

What about towns missing from this table?
The report publishes counts for only ten cities. Other towns show “count not published” on NimbyCheck. That means unknown in this source, not zero. Find your town page for its source context and official lookup links.
What these totals can and cannot tell you
Historical city-wide totals are not a crime rate, a neighborhood safety rating or a count within the selected search radius. The table supplies no city-level classification breakdown and is not equivalent to the public online registry. Towns omitted from the table have unknown counts here, not zero. Registry totals do not capture all sexual violence.
The map colors indicate whether a total was published. They do not rank towns by danger. Municipal boundaries and text labels do not identify individual locations. NimbyCheck does not collect names, home/work addresses, or person-level registry records.
